Stipender ("we", "us", "our") operates an online job board connecting anesthesia
providers ("providers" or "job seekers") with healthcare employers ("employers"). This
Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you
have. By using stipender.com you agree to the
practices described here.
The short version: we do not sell or rent your personal information.
We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Provider email addresses are
never disclosed to employers — all contact runs through our in-app messaging.
We use the data you give us to run the service, and that's it.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored hashed), and your role (provider or employer).
- Profile information: for providers — credentials, location, availability, notification preferences. For employers — company name, address, billing details.
- Job postings: employer-supplied job descriptions, locations, compensation ranges, and contact preferences.
- Messages and attachments: in-app messages exchanged between providers and employers, and any files attached to those messages.
- Saved jobs and notes: jobs you bookmark and any private notes you attach to them.
- Support and contact form submissions: the content of any message you send us via the contact form or by emailing us directly.
- Payment information (employers only): when you purchase credits or boosts, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a transaction record (amount, date, last four digits of the card) but never see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, jobs viewed, search queries, IP address, browser type, device type, and approximate location derived from IP.
- Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies for authentication, session management, CSRF protection, and basic analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Information from third parties
- reCAPTCHA: Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise is used on contact and signup forms to prevent abuse. Google may receive limited information about your interaction with the form, governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Payment processors: Stripe provides us with confirmation of successful payments and metadata necessary for receipts and refunds.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and maintain your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
- Display job postings to providers and surface qualified providers' search activity to employers in aggregate.
- Route messages between providers and employers without disclosing provider email addresses.
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, message notifications, billing receipts, post status changes).
- Process payments for employer credits and job boosts.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Improve the service — for example, understanding which job categories are most searched.
- Comply with legal obligations (tax, accounting, lawful requests from authorities).
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners.
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Between providers and employers, by design: when a provider initiates a conversation about a job, the employer sees the provider's display name and any information the provider chooses to share in the message. The provider's email address is not revealed.
- Public job postings: employer-submitted job content (title, description, location, compensation, company name) is publicly visible to anyone visiting the site or finding the post via search engines. Do not include confidential information in a job posting.
- Service providers: we use a small set of vendors to run the service — cloud hosting, transactional email delivery, payment processing (Stripe), bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA), and error monitoring. These vendors only receive the minimum information needed for their function and are contractually prohibited from using it for anything else.
- Legal compliance: we may disclose information when required by valid legal process (subpoena, court order) or when necessary to protect our rights, property, safety, or that of our users.
- Business transfers: if Stipender is acquired or merges with another company, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Your Choices and Controls
- Notification preferences: you can turn off most non-essential emails on the Settings → Notifications page after signing in. We will continue to send essential transactional emails (security, billing, legal notices) regardless of preferences.
- Profile updates: you can edit or remove most of your profile information from your dashboard at any time.
- Account deletion: you can delete your account from your profile settings. Deletion removes your profile, saved jobs, and personal information from our active systems. Anonymized usage data and records we are legally required to retain (e.g., payment receipts for tax purposes) may be kept.
- Cookies: you can clear or block cookies through your browser. Doing so will sign you out and may break parts of the site that rely on session cookies.
5. Data Security
We protect personal information using industry-standard practices: HTTPS encryption in
transit, hashed passwords, restricted database access, regular software updates, and
monitoring for unusual activity. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to
keep client information safe and respond promptly to any incident that affects it.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and profile information for as long as your account is active.
Job postings remain visible until the employer unpublishes or deletes them, or until
they expire. Messages remain accessible to both parties for the life of the account.
Backups containing personal data may persist for up to 90 days after deletion, after
which they are overwritten. Financial and tax records are retained for the period
required by applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
Stipender is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us
information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Users
Stipender is operated from the United States and the data is stored in the U.S.
If you access the service from outside the U.S., you understand that your
information will be processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection
laws than your country.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will
update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify registered users
by email. Continued use of the service after a change indicates acceptance of the
updated policy.
